GETTING STARTED

Getting started with Plain Accounts

Set up your country, business, plan, accounts, team and opening balances with a guided accounting workspace.

HOW IT WORKS IN PLAIN

From the first action to a result you can explain.

Accounting setup fails when a blank workspace offers no sequence, or when a template is mistaken for real business data. This workflow is designed for new customers that want a guided route from signup to trustworthy opening numbers. The aim is not to hide accounting decisions; it is to put the right information, decision and evidence together so an authorised person can move the work forward confidently.

The workflow, start to finish

  1. Confirm country, business and financial year
  2. Choose a starter profile or start from scratch
  3. Review accounts, tax codes and tracking
  4. Invite users and set approvals
  5. Import opening data and complete readiness checks

Every stage has a visible status. People can see what is ready, what is waiting and what needs correction instead of relying on a private spreadsheet or an email thread.

Information that carries forward

Signup country, selected plan and starter-profile choice carry into the new workspace; business records remain empty until the customer creates or imports them.

That continuity reduces duplicate entry and also makes correction safer: the team can follow the result back through its posting, approval and source instead of changing an unexplained total.

Controls and exceptions

Validation, permission setup, duplicate review and opening-balance reconciliation stop incomplete information from quietly becoming the live ledger.

Plain separates drafting from privileged actions. An exception remains reviewable, with a useful explanation, rather than being silently forced through merely to complete a workflow.

A realistic example

A cleaning business selects the cleaning profile, reviews its income and cost accounts, imports active customers and opening balances, adds the bookkeeper and confirms the trial workspace is ready.

The live demo uses sample business data and simulated external actions so visitors can test the internal workflow without sending a message, moving money, connecting a bank or lodging with an authority.

Connected to the rest of Plain

A shared CleaningCentral or Aurao trial may pass the authorised profile and owner identity into provisioning while each product keeps its own permissions.

Once authorised activity posts to the ledger, the same result is available to account activity, financial statements, budgets, audit history and month-end review according to the user’s role.

What to confirm before relying on it

The 14-day trial requires no card and begins clean. External banking, payments and statutory providers are connected only after the workspace is eligible and the owner authorises them.

During setup, confirm the workspace country, accounting basis, tax treatment, financial year, account mappings, approval rules and user access. Plain provides the controlled workflow; the customer remains responsible for its business decisions and professional advice.
